A 2020 Contemplation (and what’s to come)
Today is December 1st.
It’s the day we typically launch our final project of the year. Thinking about this time last year, I don’t think anyone could have imagined the complete craziness of 2020.
Giving to Hungry For A Day dipped a bit, but overall, we were still able to help so many.
This year, we helped our friends at Comprehensive Community Services provide meals, transportation and support to those experiencing homelessness and leaving the sex industry. We helped children who couldn’t go to school get food. You provided meals to doctors and nurses at a trauma hospital as they worked in Covid-19 ICU wards. Support for meals and schooling was given to children in Uganda through The Collective Effect. Finally, we just wrapped up our annual Thanksgiving Project and through our dozens of faith and corporate partners, and you, were able to feed 22,425 people a Thanksgiving meal!
So let me tell you about something incredible… because of the generosity of donors last December, our operating budget was completely covered for 2020. Every single dollar donated to a project this year went directly to helping people. We didn’t have to take a single dime and allocate it to our operating costs.
Here’s what we need from you. We need to raise $15,500 to cover our 2020 expenses.
This is the breakdown:
$42 covers our Operating Expenses for a day.
$300 covers our Operating Expenses for a week.
$1,290 will cover covers our Operating Expenses for a month.
If last December taught us anything, it’s that none of us know what this next year will bring, but what we will continue to fight for is inspiring generosity, helping the hurting and meeting the needs of the most vulnerable.
How can you help this December?
Some give a year-end gift and others set up a recurring donation each month.
